Trust in God’s Precision Timing: Part III

March 11, 2026

God uses us despite our past or our family background. “God can layout the most glorious redemption against the darkest background.” And His timing is PRECISE! And as was mentioned yesterday, according to Exodus 1:12, even in the midst of oppression, God can cause great multiplication kind of growth.

Read on for Part III:

From 70 to a million. And when did this growth happen? In slavery. Exodus 1:12 says: "the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied." This scripture is very interesting; how can suffering increase the birth rate? According to research, suffering (such as economic pressure, long working hours, high childcare costs, and future uncertainty) is negatively correlated with the birth rate.

By rational calculation, when Jacob went down to Egypt, the whole family was 70 (Genesis 46:27). At the time of the Exodus, there were about 600,000 men (Exodus 12:37). Let's just do the math: 70 people becoming 600,000 men. This is an 8,571-fold growth. If the Bible says "the fourth generation will return," then let's assume there were only 4 generations.

May I ask, how many times must each generation grow? The answer is: each generation must grow 9.6 times. That is to say—each couple on the average must give birth to about 19 children who can survive to adulthood. In an ancient society with high mortality rates, this is almost an impossible number. Therefore, this was not natural growth; this was explosive growth under oppression. Egypt's policy was suppression. God's response was multiplication. Pharaoh wanted to reduce the population; God made the population explode. This is not a demographic phenomenon; this is a theological phenomenon. Under normal circumstances, suffering would weaken a nation. But in God's plan, suffering did not destroy them; instead, it shaped them. When the environment says "impossible," God says "multiply." When the world says "decline," God says "expand." When Pharaoh says "suppress," God says "prosper." This is our God. He is not just the God of redemption; He is the God who manages numbers, manages history, and manages growth curves.

Do you know what Taiwan's birth rate ranking in the world is? According to the latest statistical data, Taiwan's birth rate in 2025 is 1.12, which is ranked third from the bottom globally, escaping from being the absolute bottom at 1.11 in 2024.

God often uses environments we don't like to shape us. Just as gold must go through refining fire and diamonds must go through high pressure. Your current pressure is perhaps exactly the way God is shaping your life. How can we better pray for Taiwan? Must oppression happen for God to bring expansive growth?

This is amazing to read this message and to be reminded of who God is.

Tomorrow… we will feast on Part IV!
