Kathryn started the month of June with a Spirit-led, Spirit-inspired, message focusing on the Biblical passages from Isaiah 54:1-5 and Isaiah 61:7.
4 “Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, for you will not be disgraced; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. 5 For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called." Isaiah 54:4-5
7 Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy. Isaiah 61:7
Using Leah and Rachel, Elizabeth (the wife of Zachariah, the priest), and the nation of Zion, she presented these three key points:
Don't let shame define your life
God has not forgotten your waiting.
God replaces shame with glory.
So often, we try to use our own ways to feel accepted or to gain a sense of belongingness. Instead of trusting God, we try to fill our disappointments with temporal things that will only lead us to more disappointments. God calls us to encounter Him through our pain. He wants to turn our shame into glory. We struggle and lose our self worth when we compare ourselves with others and soon see only our lack rather than how God has blessed us. God sees our tears. God wants to take away our shame. As we read each passage, Kathryn brought out practical points, such as: God's timing transcends human limits; His favor is never absent. God doesn't just heal wounds; He restores lost honor. Like Isaiah 61:7, "instead of your shame, you will receive a double portion." Instead of sorrow, you shall have everlasting joy!
If you weren't there at the service, I hope you'll take the time to listen to the whole message... And experience for yourself how God, in His love, removes your shame and brings glory and joy in your life.
