Who do you listen to ?

One of the Scriptures that really have stood out to me is Genesis 3 verse 11!
One of the biggest questions I think in the Bible is out of verse 11 “who told you?”
This question that God asked of Adam and Eve, I think, He is asking of us. Who told you you weren’t good enough, who told you you weren’t enough, who told you you had to be afraid, who told you you couldn’t be forgiven, who told you you weren’t loved, who told you that I cannot love you?
I think so many times we have elevated the voice of the enemy or the voice of our own self condemnation over the voice of what God has said about us. And when we do that and believe those lies that the enemy says we fall prey to his schemes! This is the same enemy who has come to kill, steal and destroy! When we elevate those voices above the voice of God, we are robbed of the joy of the Lord!
We can counteract the lies of the enemy with the phrase “but God…”as we read in John 10:10- “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it in abundantly (to the full, till it overflows). Where the theft comes to kill, steal and destroy - our God comes to bring life and life more abundantly. If we believe the truth of what God has spoken over us, it gives us life and life more abundantly. Instead of grasping onto what the enemy says about us, we need to hold onto what Jesus says about us.
Think 🤔 about this question “who told you?” and what does God say about us? Are you listening to His voice? Are those voices around us that give us no hope, bring destruction, and destroy our joy? Are we going to listen to what God has spoken over us?
We are His chosen ones, His treasures, His beloved ones. He choose to use us for His purposes, for His glory. As we celebrate this Christmas, this season of Light piercing darkness, Jesus coming and humbling himself, think about this, the God who sacrificed everything to become lowly and humble to the least of all mankind so that we could have a relationship with the Father.
That’s the voice that we should be listening to.
He loves you. You are precious to Him. He sees you.
Be blessed today!
Merry Christmas! Joy Maas, Missionary
